Catch Them YOUNG – Mega Event 2018-19

The  3rd Catch Them Young’, Inter School Meet organized by Treasures of Innocence was held on 11th January 2019 at Asutosh Memorial Hall, from 10 am – 5 pm. The program was based on the theme of ‘Child Rights’.


Thirteen schools with students from various challenging backgrounds participated in the program. The objective was to provide them with a broader exposure to showcase their talents and improve their confidence level; a feeling of ‘I Can’!


Following schools had joined the occasion:

1. Bidyadharpur High School For Girls,

2. Bikramgarh High School,

3. Cossipore Institution (Boys),

4. Gopeswar Dutta Free School,

5. Kailash Vidyamandir,

6. Nabajatak Vidyabhaban For Girls,

7. Rani Bhabani School,

8. S. B. Girls’ High School,

9. The Park Institution for Girls,

10. Kishalay  Siksha Sadan,

11. Makhla High School,

12. Mahamayapur High School and

13. Jashoda Primary School,  Sherpur, East Medinipur.


It was a day-long program where the children participated in quiz competition, drama competition, talent hunt, go-as-you-like and art exhibition based on child rights. The event was graced by Mr. Pinaki Ranjan Sinha (Executive director of Sanlaap), Dr. Soumitra Shankar Datta (Child Psychiatrist), Mr. Rajesh Ishai (General manager, Sonnet hotel) and Mr. Sriprakash Bhattacharya (Social activist). Their strong speeches were very encouraging and it boosted the morale of the students a lot.


The theme of the drama competition was various social issues like “Right to Education”, “Health is Wealth”, “Stop Child Abuse”, “Stop Child Trafficking”, “Stop Child Marriage”, “Save The Environment”, “Gender Equality”, “Stop Misuse of Social Media”, “Raise Your Voice”.


Dr. Soumitra Basu, Ms. Varsa Dutta, and Ms. Sanhita Banerjee were the honorable judges for this segment. Though all the schools performed gracefully, the immaculate performance of S.B. Girls’ School on the topic of “Raise Your Voice” won the heart of the judges and won the first prize.


The quiz competition was exciting and the audience had to hold their breath until Kailash Vidyamandir won the round through a head-to-head contest.


The ‘Talent Hunt’ segment was full of surprises from each school. It was judged by eminent personalities like

Ms. Deeprekha Mukherjee, Ms. Saswati Sarkar and Mr. Firoz Ali. Gopeswar Dutt Free School snatched the winner trophy by their breathtaking performance.


This program also recognized and awarded the Inter-school toppers from V-VIII who was selected by learning assessment programs and art competition arranged throughout the year by the Treasures of Innocence.


Each and every student tried their best to make the event successful. It turned out to be a lifetime experience for them and helped them to build up their confidence so that they dare to dream big. The program ended with a vote of thanks to the supporters, donors, other NGOs, media partners. Everybody wished to see ‘Catch them Young’ as a yearly affair.
