My name is Dipanwita Samanta. I am a student of Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management (IISWBM). I did my internship with Treasures of Innocence in June- July 2021. The idea behind choosing Treasures of Innocence was to get a chance to learn about those children who are underprivileged and struggle for a better life.
My experience at Treasures of Innocence was an extremely enriching one. I had no previous experience in this field. So on the first day I had no clue as to what needs to be done. Then I came across my mentor at Treasures of Innocence who briefed me about the organization and the areas they are working on. To my surprise I actually found out a ground to go ahead with this new journey.
Here I was assigned with a project on Physical Well Being. There was three major areas of work: General Physical Awareness , telemedicine and COVID Awareness and Vaccination Programme. At the beginning I was given the responsibility of only 12 children, but gradually I got the responsibility of all children. It was indeed a different kind of experience for me as the internship was the first of its kind for me.
Treasures of Innocence has taught me how to value things in life and find happiness in every little thing. The experience of working here has made me a better person with a broader perspective towards people and also towards myself. I am very grateful for my guide for her guidance and constant support. I would like to thank my guide, the staff and all the children for making my experience so special.
